BOOTS

The lies of Boots the Chemist

We have received the following from a Boots worker:

There was a letter from Boots the Chemist in some national papers today outlining their stance on the ongoing dispute with Mandate, well as a Boots worker and a Mandate member I think it only fair to reply to some of the points made in the letter.

When Boots say that there will be no reduction in pay they are lying. At the moment staff working Sundays get double time, Boots want to change this to time and a half. That means a pay cut for all staff working Sundays and bank holidays.

What they also fail to say is that they want to change the terms and conditions of our employment so that if they decide they want you to change your hours, if you can't, for whatever family commitments, they will reduce your working week by those hours, and furthermore, if you still don't change them, after four weeks they will change them anyway or else terminate your employment.

When the say that there are new pay scales being introduced for all NEW employees, they fail to mention that  current employees'  pay rates will be frozen until the new rates are in line with them, which as Boots is not in the national pay agreement that means the 12th of never.

Boots have also used bullying tactics to staff members  who went to the mandate members meeting to vote on these issues.  There was one senior member of management who followed a Mandate member to his car and was trying to intimidate him.

They also followed staff asking them what they had voted. One store even refused to let the staffs' union officer into the store to even talk to their staff---actually going so far as comparing them selves to Winston Churchill and the union officer to Hitler.

This is a company who is not being totally honest to their customers and certainly not their staff.

Please don't print my name or read it out because going by the recent behaviour of senior management I am afraid I will be fired.
