Workers occupy IKEA stores in France

On Monday IKEA workers took control of the Head Office in France after failing negotiations on wages.

The workers and unions are looking for a general wage increase of 4%, but the company are only willing to give increases on an inpidual basis amounting to 1.2% on average. Workers in three stores as well as in the head office began strike action on Saturday, after negotiations failed.

Since Monday these four premises have been occupied by the strikers, as they demand to meet the directors of the company.

This action gives a lead to all workers, as the economic crisis is used to force down wages and conditions.
