Anne Moore is Arrested.
Anne Moore who was recently evicted from her house in Ballybrack has been arrested in her former council house.
Anne returned to the house after she heard that council staff had begun to remove her belongings without giving her notice.
She sat on her own staircase and was then arrested and taken to the Shankill Garda Station.
In a statement Councillor Hugh Lewis from People Before Profit Alliance said,
‘This is a shocking indictment of the inequalities of Irish society. Bankers who have brought to the country to the verge of bankruptcy are allowed to walk about their golf clubs while working class people who have fallen into arrears are arrested for defending their property.
‘We need a new anti-eviction league modelled on the land league to combat these new abuses
‘I call for the immediate re-housing of Anne Moore and her family. They are now able to pay a sizeable proportion of the arrears and there is no need for this vindictive treatment which can only be construed as a warning to the poor everywhere’./
