CPSU vote for strike action

The first significant industrial challenge to the new government emerged over the weekend as the Civil and Public Services Union (CPSU) voted unanimously to take industrial action if there were further attacks on their pay and conditions. One delegate warned that they would " bring this Republic to a complete standstill" if the government attemtps to make CPSU workers part of 'the working poor', and the message from conference was clear - there will be no more concessions without firm commitments on pay to 2014.
