This coming Friday, a number of musicians are performing at a free gig in Ballymun to kick of a local campaign to reverse the reductionss in Social Welfare, and other cuts.
European Week Against Racism(EWAR) runs from 13th to 21st March,
where thousands of people actively engage in activities to promote and celebrate equal rights and the diversity of Europe.

Youth workers in Shankill have recently
learned that due to government cutbacks made by education minister Batt O'Keeffe,
the Shanganagh and Rathsallagh Youth Centre soon faces closure.
While the banks were
given handouts to the tune of €12 billion the growing number of unemployed face
cutbacks. The Jobseekers Benefit/Allowance have been cut to €196/week from 1st
January. Also those on Disability or Carer’s Allowance have had the same cuts.
Following the recent disgracefull budget
draw up by Brain Lenihan, a new campaign has been launched by the younger
members of the Socialist Workers Party to fight the social welfare cut backs
specifically aimed at young people, writes Karl Gill.
